Personality: High walls and barbed wire surround her, each crafted by her own hand to keep people out so she can watch from the safety of a tower. Questions answered with questions, she is reluctant to give up personal information about herself. Anything given is always at the expectation of information in like, or for her employer's trust. One could say she does this because she is afraid to be known, but in truth she has learned to do this as a result of pretending to be someone else, and in her pursuit of material and social gain, she has yet to discover who she truly is.After years of sitting upon a pedestal, far removed from most other people her age, her social skills are slightly stunted. Vran's social knowledge comes from her father, a politician that taught her how to command attention and respect, but never friendship. Despite her sarcastic barbs and avoidant tendencies, she secretly craves for someone to know and befriend her.

History

Born on September 3rd to Vemund and Olina Zhennen in the House of Zhennen within Old Sharlayan's residential district, Vran was born. After years of fertility struggles, the Zhennen's were only able to conceive and carry to term one child - to their dismay was born female instead of male. Throughout the pregnancy, the nobles wished desperately for a male, and upon their disappointment had no name ready for her. She was given the name of her paternal grandfather: Vran. Her father's disappointment was prevalent throughout her adolescence, only made worse by how closely she bore his resemblance.Throughout her childhood she sought after the approval of parents that were never pleased. Perfection was expected and anything less was unsatisfactory. Vran was enrolled in the finest schools Sharlayan had to offer as a child, preparing her for the Studium she would go on to attend in her teenage years. The young lady excelled in the arts of medicine, and after years of study, she graduated as a respectable scholar and sage. For the first time in generations, the Zhennen family had produced a notable sage, and Vran thought that the approval of her parents was within reach.However, this accomplishment was only one of their many expectations. There were no congratulations or declarations of pride, only the next task for her to accomplish in the name of parents that she would never be good enough for. It was then that she decided that if she could not be the savior of her family, she would crush it like a spiteful child. Vran drained her accounts and trusts in secret, stashed a handful of family heirlooms, and set out to leave Sharlayan, leaving only the note: "You were satisfied with nothing, so I will take everything."Despite this, she has always intended to return to Sharlayan to reclaim her titles and holdings as Lady Zhennen to rebuild the house in her own image.

Fellow Sharlyan? Despite having cast aside her Sharlayan ties for the time being, Vran often finds herself homesick and reminiscing of her days attending the Studium. Although she would never admit it out loud, she yearns to return home and for the company of fellow Sharlayans.In Need of Assistance? Although rarely charitable, her pride as a sage and medic doesn't allow her to turn her back on those in need of her help.
